It's been about seven weeks since I wrote "I Wonder." There I talked about two writings I was going to write, and here I am seven weeks later writing about well, thinking. In specific I will talk about thinking in general, under-thinking, of course over thinking, and one specific thought or thoughts that poison us as people, holding us back from things we could do. Our brains are amazing tools that allow us to do amazing things, and yet it's even more amazing than we know, literally. We legitimately know more about space than we do about the human brain, weird huh? Well these amazing tools are something that are powerful, so what do we do with them? Well, we think which raises the question of what we think about. With that said I think the answer is actually everything. We think about such random things that a lot of times don't make sense, like if you're waiting in line at a store you could think, "what would happen if I punched the cashier in the face?" Those are the weird things we think about, the brain is a loose cannon that we don't have a terrible grip on. Though, I wanna ask, is that really a bad thing? I personally think that for most people it isn't, thinking is great, and leads to questions and thoughts that could change your, or other's, lives. It could help you make things from art to a invention that makes artificial fossil fuels. For me this goes into the art, I am a cardist (I shuffle playing cards in a cool way) and to make new moves and cuts, I need to be creative I need to think of a new way to move the cards, my hands, the position, so much goes into it and I need to think about those details. Sometimes the move just comes to me though, then there's not much to do except fill in a few things, which doesn't require much thinking. Which then leads to under thinking, and obviously this is the opposite of overthinking, which we all know and hate. As the name applies this is when you don't think very much and for this let's make a list of pros and cons because I believe everything in life has a positive and negative, like the yin yang symbol. Let's start with the pros, because who doesn't like good things? The pros about under thinking are going to be that it keeps everything simple, and for simple problems you don't take 5 hours thinking of weather x works or y works. Second is that it generally is quicker and uses things you already know. As for cons, if the problem isn't simple and requires a different level of abstraction, simple thinking will usually not give you a good answer, it will give you AN answer, but not the correct or best one. Second you do need prior knowledge, and as I said for my card tricks that 'just come to me' I need them to come to me, it has a level of luck in it, and luck is not the most reliable thing to rely on. That's where you need to think a little more. That comes into what, again we know and hate, overthinking. From my experience I haven't met anyone who said, "yea I love to over think it helps me a lot." No, no one ever really says that they like to overthink, because it leads to such intricate and complex thoughts, that sometimes are not good, or suck to think about. Again though, let's list some pros and cons, this time we'll start with cons. As already stated, it causes unwanted thoughts. Second it will cause conflicting thoughts, you keep saying wrong and right, and reasons why. Third, you make simple mistakes doing complex things, because you miss the big picture and only go to small details. Now pros, it helps you reach a level of abstraction needed for complex problems. Second it will help you get a more complex and detailed answer of things. Third it helps you quickly span one thing in your mind. People over think, and sometimes they need to, Einstein didn't make amazing theories and work, because he woke up one morning and said, the equation of energy is E=mc squared. Even so we usually over think on things that don't need to be thought about for hours, and so let me give you tips on how to stop thinking about things you shouldn't be, or don't want to. First the quick fix, now this might seem insensitive or so easy that it's stupid, but it works. Find the topic and root of what you're thinking of, take a deep breath, and first ask yourself, "will thinking about this make a difference?" if the answer is no, then literally give yourself a metaphorical slap on the face and stop thinking about it, literally just don't ever mentally mention it again, and how to do this, is think about something else. What that something else is could be anything positive or stupid. Go think about what color the sky is it's a deep thought. Now the .00001 chance that the answer to your question is not a stubborn yes, and if thinking about whatever will help you, then you need to speed it up, first find why and how this will help the tree, since we're talkin about roots, and then avert your attention to that, span that area and find your solution, you can't find something if you don't know where to look. Now the thought that screws us over, the thought of "what if", these two words kill people's dreams. It causes reluctancy, second thoughts, fear, and of course leads to overthinking. People may have a great idea and then think, what if it fails, what will I do. You over think about things that haven't happened yet, and only think about the negative things. Caleb Maddix said before. "The gun that kills the most people is the gonna." This is so true, and the fix for this is what I said in the last paragraph and one more step. You have to stop overthinking it, stop asking what if, and then the second step is that you have to stop saying gonna, and go do it right now, not tomorrow, not in a second, not later, do it NOW. You can be successful if you take the steps to be successful, you will never reach a destination you're not going to. That brings me to the end of the writing, this is posted a little later than usual I'm sorry, I fell asleep last night, and I'm rushing to a party right now so I'm writing this really quickly. Thank you for reading, I hope you learned about thoughts, under thinking, overthinking and how to stop, and to stop asking yourself what if, and grabbing the gun known as the gonna. With all of that I hope you get up and do something now, and have your success story, and remember failure doesn't mean that you won't succeed, it just means you're one step closer to success.
