The two simple words, 'you’re right' can save you from a lot of anger, and save you from wasting your time. Which begs the question, how? Before I answer that though, the very negative words on the thumbnail of this writing signifies some of the words we’ll be defining today. Specifically we’ll define stupid and ignorance, how the words ‘you’re right’ can save you time and frustration, and when not to use those words.

The word stupid is a very rude word by definition, however it is now a very commonly used word. The word stupid is literally defined as someone who has little knowledge. I agree with that to some extent, but also think there's more to it. First let's define ignorant. Ignorance, to me, is the lack of knowledge, or now knowing. With that said, stupidity is ignorance with the addition of not wanting to fix that ignorance. Have you ever meet someone that thinks they know something, but it's completely wrong? Then you try to tell them what the actual facts are, but they just don't wanna hear it. Yeah, that's stupidity, an ignorant person would listen intently in attempts of clearing their lack of knowledge. How then can the words 'you're right' be used to save you time and frustration? Well this is what you use with people defined as stupid. The example I mentioned above is somewhat inaccurate because in this situation the person most likely would not just simply ignore you, they would argue with you very adamantly. The psychological reason for this is called identity protective cognition. If people feel that something you say attacks their personal identity, the area of the brain that feels physical pain is triggered, and causes a fight or flight reaction, usually in the form of contentiousness. When these people try to start a quarrel with you, tell them they're right. Because of two main reasons; first, you're not gonna win the argument even if you're right, this persons obdurate mind will not budge. Second, what exactly would you gain if you won an argument with an idiot? Nothing, so if you tell them they're right, they're happy, you saved yourself time and probably frustration, everyone wins. I promptly said previously "an ignorant person would listen intently in attempts of clearing their lack of knowledge." This is where there is a difference between stupidity and ignorance. People defined as ignorant don't avoid knowledge, they will usually understand their lack of it which usually translates to an incessant need of knowledge, so these people will listen to your arguments, their arguments will not be statements they will be questions; they open up a road for you to disprove their theories and notions, so they can learn the correct information, in so lessening their ignorance. When you encounter these people, teach them, help them, and argue with them, because once again, everyone will win, and I cannot express the feeling you will get if you help someone ignorant with words.

Teaching people is one of the most ecstatic and fulfilling things that you can do. However, unfortunately some people cannot be taught, these are the stupid people, the ones that don’t want to learn, the others are ignorant, and want their ignorance to disappear. This was a harsh topic, however it’s the unfortunate truth, and again, will save you a lot of time and frustration. Thanks for reading, I’ll see you next week, peace.
