What Do You Want?

I was in engineering class two weeks ago, and there was a comment, "It's easy to figure out what you want, but hard to do it." The moment I heard that a response immediately came to my mind: If it's hard to do something, you don't know what you want to do. In other words, I disagree, completely. It's my experience that the opposite is true. It's extremely hard to figure out what you want, but extremely easy to do something when you know what you want.

This applies to everything. Projects, tasks, and of course, life. I don't think life is easy, nor do I believe life is hard, life just is. Life is simply life. However, we can experience things that are hard, and experience things that make things easier. One of the things that makes life hard for me, and for many many other people, especially these days, it seems. Not having a purpose.

When you don't know what you want to do in life, everything is hard. School is hard, not doing anything is hard, doing anything is hard, everything becomes harder to do. Whether it's harder in the sense that your performance isn't great or harder in the sense of your motivation or your mental. The reason is that regardless of what you do or how you do it at the end of the day you close your eyes. And the last thought that is your nightmare before you have nightmares is "why."

Not having an answer to that question is one of the worst curses you can have in life. When you don't know why, everything is harder. Getting out of bed in the morning is harder, brushing your teeth is harder, eating is harder, sleeping is harder.

However, if you know what you want to do, if you know what's at the end of the road, if you know what the destination looks like, all it takes is a map to get there. Sure, you have to learn how to read a map, but other than that, it's easy.

The only thing you need to do in life is know what you want. If you can do that it's easy. You want money? Easy. You want happiness? Easy. You don't want anything? Well, even if you get money, you'll never be happy, and unless you want to be happy you'll never get it.
