If you read last weeks post then you most likely have a pretty good guess as to what 'mortem' means. Mortem is, once again, a Latin word, and this time it means death. This weeks post will be more-or-less parallel to the last post, meaning, we will define death, talk about why death is important, and discuss how to tackle the concept of death. Mortem. Death. A scary concept to many, and something that we avoid thinking and talking about, or even addressing out-loud because of the stigma behind it, and the negative connotation the word and concept has. What does the word mean though? Well, biologically, when your heart stops you've died; so yes, by definition you can die and come back to life, revival is a thing. However, the death I want to be discussing is the the permanent separation of the soul from the body, that is death. There is no more action within your body, at least physically. Defining death is a challenge, because we are stepping into philosophy, no one actually knows what it's like to completely... die. Well, maybe they do, but they can't really share their discoveries I suppose. Last time, we discussed the beauty of life, and how amazing it is. Today, we're going to make the same statements about death. I stated earlier, there's stigma behind death, people don't discuss it in average conversations, they avoid it in deeper ones too, however, death truly is a beautiful thing, and it is very, very important. Death gives life meaning, the reason that life is beautiful is because death exits, it is the reason that you should live your life, it is the reason you should be doing the most you can do every day, the reason you should try to be happy, the reason you should try and be successful. If you wouldn't ever die, why would you do something today, you could do it tomorrow, heck, you could do it in fifty years, it doesn't matter, you have no time limit. What's the point of being happy, you'd have all the time in the world to get there, "at one point." That's not how it is though. We have been given a reason to live our lives to the fullest, and this isn't a religious concept, you'll die one day, that's a fact, and this should galvanize you into living the best life you can. Appreciating life and what it holds; I am not saying to covet death, no, don't want to die—no one wants to die, a controversial statement I'll elaborate on one day. Since death is beautiful, there is something I believe people should now do. Stop avoiding the concept of death and making an inconspicuous topic in society. Don't think of death as a negative thing, it gives your life meaning. People should accept death, don't be afraid of it, don't deny the fact; again, don't covet death, but accept the simple fact that one day your soul will be detached permanently from your body. When you come to terms with death, your own and others, you will push yourself, and you will push others, to be the best, to make the most of the time you have, to be mindful, to be present in your life, and to simply live. Death is a touchy subject, it has been for awhile, but after thinking, speaking to people, and seeing philosophies on death; you come to find that death is a beautiful thing, it is just another force in the universe to balance the wonder of life. Hopefully, this post has given a satiating definition of death, explained the importance and beauty of death, and how you should think of death. This month I'll have written for two years, every single sentence, must have a punctuation, it must come to an end. Thank you for reading this, I may take a break next week, not sure, besides that, have an amazing week, I'll see you soon, peace. Original
